Vacation time
So what do you call a vacation, when you feel like you are permanently on vacation? This week I will be spending time in the sun with my son and his family. There is nothing like time with the grandkids to refresh, rejuvenate and reset your life!
In the past I had to carefully parcel out my allotted vacation time so I could spend time with my son, time with my mom, have time for some summer fun, and maybe some time to travel somewhere. This freedom to pick up and go is new, and I am just getting used to it.
Of course, there are still constraints, but they are different ones.
- There are always budget considerations. But if I can set aside some money for travelling, it is my feeling that I should do some of that “bucket list” travelling now, while it is still fun and my health permits.
- I do try to stick close to home in the summer months. I live in a place close to lots of beaches, and in a town (Stratford, Ontario) with a fabulous summer theatre festival. Rather than travel in the summer, I look forward to hosting friends and family at my place.
- I find air travel is getting increasingly difficult and wearing. The waits are long, the airports can be intimidating and confusing places, and the planes are anything but comfortable. I imagine it will get increasingly difficult to convince myself to get on a long-haul flight as I get older.
Having said all that, the only sensible thing to do is to get off for a winter holiday. So, I am off to have fun in the sun! Pictures and a report-back promised next week.

Looking forward to the report on the Mexico holiday!! Holding on to thoughts of winter sun next year!!!
